I promised my robe that if it would get me through being sick last week, I would give it a good washing. Now I have a fresh-from-the-dryer robe to wear.. it's the little luxuries in life that make it all worthwhile.

That wasn't what I wanted to write about, though. My mom just called from Lexington. They took my grandfather to the doctor for a checkup today. You might remember that he had open-heart surgery in November and then had a pacemaker put in almost two months ago because fluid kept building up around his heart/lungs, landing him back in the hospital each time. The doctors were a little hesitant about putting in the pacemaker, trying to decide if it would work as they hoped. Anyway, today, they checked him out and were extremely surprised at just how well it's working.. much more than they had thought it would do. Papaw feels much better now, and they said he could continue feeling even better for up to six months as the pacemaker gets into its.. routine, or whatever. Soo.. that's very good news. We knew it had to be doing okay because he wasn't building up fluids like before, but this seems extremely promising.. :)

Oh, and I forgot to mention that yesterday was an anniversary day for us. It was our cable modem's one year anniversary, most importantly. *grin* It was also three years since Magnus arrived for the third visit, and our 30 month wedding anniversary. Okay, so none of those things are truly celebratable, but kind of a fun fact. :)

Also, I'm meeting my cousin Rae (her actual name is Heidi, but I call her Rae because she calls me Lou) for lunch at Wendy's. Last time we met, it was at 2, but today her lunch break is at 12. That's good. That also means I just have 52 minutes to get dressed, my hair dried and fixed and makeup put on and get down there, and for some reason, I'm still sitting here writing in my journal. Eh, well, I should have plenty of time, but I'd best get started on it anyway.

You promised your robe? You're so cute. Hope you're having a good lunch and all.
Love you!

You mean.. you don't talk to yours? Or you just don't make it promises?
(Lunch was nice.) Wubbles!

That's good news about your grandfather. Illness is always a worry. And I have to say that I adore the smell of a freshly washed robe! You have to pamper them...they are such good friends...

Yeah.. we're all so happy he's feeling better.. it was pretty worrying for a while.

My robe pampers me, I might as well take care of it every once in a while. ;)

Well, I'm pretty sure I've never promised mine anything. Talking to it now... I guess I might have said "Phew! You stink!" or something to that effect (before I had a wife to point these things out to me at an earlier stage, of course), but nothing deeper than that. I did use to have lengthy and involved discussions about life with my clogs, but that's about it.

Is that a hint that you'd like a freshly laundered robe, too? :)

You had ten strippers hanging out in your house and you talked to your CLOGS? No wonder they didn't come with you when you moved..
