A picture-y post.

Yesterday evening was extremely busy and exciting. Just as I was preparing to leave for my chiropractor visit, Dad brought down a package that was on their porch. Our new camera! Yay! After we got home, we got it going and had tremendous amounts of fun playing with our new toy. We were going to just walk down to the creek (just behind the house) and take pictures there, but as it turned out, the thunderstorm the night before made it all icky and ugly, so we ended up going down to the lake after all. We walked around by the dam and took some pictures. A few of them turned out marvelously. Most were an obvious improvement over the old camera. A couple were completely out of focus, of course. ;) It behaves differently from the old one! We're very fond of this one.

The first picture has been reduced in size, the second picture is a crop of the berries at full resolution.

After we got back from the lake, Brad called to ask if we were selling the old camera we have and if they could come to look at it. After they had been here for a while, my parents showed up, so we actually had four guests all at once. We never have people over, so this is significant. They bought the camera and then left, and when they did, we got started on cleaning the place up because Rae was to come over tonight. (She cancelled, so it didn't matter, but it's nice to have a clean house anyway.) By the time we had finished with all that, it was bedtime. Actually, it turns out that we should have gone to bed sooner, because we both completely overslept this morning. Dad called at 8:17 to ask where I was. We were both pretty late for work, but that extra hour or two of sleep was excellent.

Anyway, that's why there was no post last night.. I was very much planning on writing one until I realized that it was bedtime. :) Tonight's been a little more relaxing. And we harvested our first garden crop.
Cute little babies, aren't they? Anyone have an idea on what to do with this massive amount of cayenne peppers? *giggle*

This post really is rambly in a weird and bad sort of way, so I'm just going to give up on transitions, as it's 11 pm and I'm ready to go to bed. I took this picture of our livingroom tonight when playing with the camera. I have no idea where the idea came from, but suddenly I ended up with a virtual tour of our livingroom. Hope you enjoy!

I loooove that berry picture.
And I'm glad to see you've noticed the importance of Monty Python!

I thought you would approve of the Monty Python reference. :)

God I'm losing it - I just wrote a message saying I love the virtual tour, and then I deleted it, thinking I was editing a spelling mistake instead. Oops.

I also said, I too am impressed with the (deserved) Monty Python emphasis - nice work.

And it looks homely :)

*laugh* There's a smiley there, so I assume you didn't mean to call my livingroom "homely"? Homey, maybe, as in, looking like home, perhaps? Or maybe you meant just what you said. *giggle*

I must say that I'm only a mediocre Monty Python fan. I don't mind watching it as long as I have something else to do in the meantime (craft-like, typically.) :)

No I meant homely! It does look nice and comfy and homely :)

I generally have to have something to do when I'm watching any TV or movie including Monty Python - but they sure do make me giggle....

I should get some craft stuff to play with - for me it's generally reading magazines. Although I did start making a handbag on the weekend - yay me!

Oo er, I just read the definition of 'homely' *giggle*

Well DOWN HERE (nice excuse - but it's true!) it means nice and cosy :)

[identity profile] same-sky.livejournal.com 2003-07-22 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
*laugh* I thought that was the case. Not that I think our livingroom is the height of fashion or anything, but most friends don't comment on how ugly something is. One of the definitions, I saw, did mean nice and cosy or equivalent, but it's not the one in common circulation here, at least. :)

You actually are the one upside down, as is evidenced by your standard globe. North America is on the top half, Australia is on the bottom. Stand a tiny doll on America. It stands upright. Stand it on Australia. It'll be upside down. See? You're upside down and we're right-side up. Or at least more so than you are. Perfectly logical. ;)

Clearly you haven't seen the globes down here.....

Clearly you haven't seen the globes down here.....

<Damn, she'll see right through that, smart cookie that she is>

Well ... well ... well ... <hands on hips> we're more fun!!!!

How did it get to this?? *L*

This sketch has become entirely too silly. ;)

Love the berry pic! I want to eat them.

We have that exact same IKEA bookcase. It's a small world after all. . .

[identity profile] same-sky.livejournal.com 2003-07-19 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
You have the same bookcase? Nifty! Put together differently, I imagine? That bookcase has been a source of contention. I like it.. I really do, but it really doesn't fit in our place (we had to cover up three windows to get it in at all), and we've noticed that it's too tall or wide or both for a few other houses we've looked at. (Not that we're seriously looking at buying a house now anyway.) Magnus keeps saying, "Nope, can't buy this, our bookcase won't fit in it." Of course, he's not completely serious, but I must say that I'm not nearly as sentimentally attached to it as he is, and it certainly wouldn't be a dealbreaker for buying a residence. *giggle*

WOW. That is one awesome camera for closeups! I've tried closeups with mine but it just doesn't happen that close to the subject. I wanna eat the berries too!

[identity profile] same-sky.livejournal.com 2003-07-19 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
The close-up capability was one of the reasons we bought the camera.. we tend to take a lot of pictures like that, and it was quite hit or miss with the old camera. Sometimes it would work, usually it would fail miserably. We're pretty pleased with how well the pictures we've taken so far have handled it. :)
