Wednesday night.
Apr. 17th, 2002 11:15 pmThis day just never ends. I swear, it's been going on for years already, and I'm not in bed yet!
I got up with Magnus and rode to work with him. Then I took the car and went to Frankfort, as previously (did I? can't remember, but I should have) mentioned. I got the marriage certificate.. which. A personal bone to pick here. How exactly does my marriage certificate prove that my name has changed? I could have kept my maiden name, or hyphenated or added on or whatever. *discusses male opression and junk for a few minutes, then returns to the previously scheduled journal entry*. Anyway. They said it'd take about an hour, and I sat there for 45 minutes, during which time every single person who was there when I arrived had been served, including lots of people who came in much later. I was getting sort of pissy and finally went in to ask about it (it hadn't been an hour yet, but really.) Turns out it'd been a Yayer mispronunciation incident again. No big deal, though. Just annoying. I wasn't in a hurry anyway. So I got the highly ugly certified copy and was off to Lexington again. I was nearly at the work place at 1 when Magnus called and asked me to come pick him up at 2, as he couldn't go to lunch just yet. So I went to Dillard's, since it was close. I have a rant about this, but I'll save it for the end, when I point out that I visited two Dillard's, and the reasoning, and why I'm annoyed. Stay tuned for a couple more paragraphs, or however long it takes me to get around to a point.
Magnus would probably point out here that I *never* get around to the points of anything, but he's mean sometimes. :)
Alright. So I pick him up at work, and we go to O'Charley's. Neither of us had been there before, but we both really rather liked it. He was back at work around 3, which meant that I had 5 hours to shop. I went to Garden Ridge, Linens n Things, Kohl's, Dress Barn, TJ Maxx, Best Buy, Sears and Dillard's. Not exactly in that order. I was pretty daggone tired by the end of the day, which is when I remembered that I hadn't gone to pick out the wedding gift I'd been planning on, and I didn't have time then. I bought a picture album for $3.77 which rang up to $3.18 with tax.. I didn't ask any questions about that one, and a shirt and pair of khaki's.. oh who bloody cares? I'm excessively rambly tonight, I don't think I can help it. I was going to buy Magnus an optical mouse, but the one that he had mentioned was CHEAP CRAP so I didn't. Felt like the buttons were gonna fall off at any moment. Anyway. The reason I went to the second Dillard's was because I walked around for twenty minutes in the shoe dept of the first Dillard's, and the salespeople were WILLFULLY ignoring me. Apparently I didn't look rich, or something. So I left and thought that I'd stop in at the other one because I did see some shoes that I liked. Guess what? There were even MORE salespeople at the other one, and they were working even harder on ignoring me. So, basically. Shoe salespeople suck, at those two particular stores, at least.
It was neat, because I was *almost* within seeing distance of the company when M called at 7:30ish saying that he could leave early. I got tired and decided I'd just sit there and wait til 8, and so by the time he went back inside after calling me, I pulled into the turning lane in front of the building. *giggle* Was just funny that I was right there when by all rights I should have still been at Sears. Oh, yeah. They annoyed me too. Last time I was there, i gave in and signed up for a credit card so I'd get $10 off. I had the option of paying with cash, though, so I did. So I take the dress back, and they put a credit on the statement! I pointed out that I had paid cash, and all, but it did no good.I really wasn't planning on ever USING this card, but now it appears that I'll have to buy something to get my money for the dress back! They suck! And, of course, I didn't have my Sears card in the mail yet, so I couldn't put today's purchase on there. *sigh* People are sucky.
I really have to remember to mail the passport thing off tomorrow. Don't let me forget, okay? AAAAAAck, I hate hiccups! I can't get rid of them! And you know what else? I rarely had hiccups before I met Magnus. And now I have them all the time. Maybe I'm allergic to him. *ponder*
Apparently Pontus is leaving for the US on May 19th. Suitable. He'll be back on the 26th or something, though.
So, yeah. That was my day. It was pretty good, regardless of how many stores I got annoyed with. And I had a blue Slushie, so all is well with the world. :) Oh, and I get a haircut soon. If I can remember to schedule it. I'm really bad with scheduling hair appointments. Or appointments in general. I've put off an eye appointment, for example, since the beginning of my junior year of college. Wonder why I didn't do that when I was still on the parents insurance? Oh, right. They didn't have eye insurance.
Someone shut me up already!
