Monday night
Sep. 30th, 2002 09:09 pmI'm so tired. This afternoon, I was whining to myself about how unproductive I'd been. Then I realized that I'd straightened up most of the house from the apparent hurricane that's been through it, washed, dryed, folded and put away several full loads of laundry, caught up on emails I was behind with, nudged the hubby into taking away the cans to be recycled and to do the dishes, put the potatoes on for dinner, worked on my tatting project, cleaned up the kitchen, and walked up to get a stockpot from the parents. I just didn't feel like I'd accomplished much, but as it turns out, I was a good girl!
I made a really lovely baked potato soup for dinner. Hey, almost vegetarian.. could have left out the bacon. ;) It was quite good. The parents came down, a fact for which I'm grateful.. otherwise we would have had a gallon left over. Then I even did the dishes, which is technically M's job. I just hated to have a dirty kitchen after working all day. :)
As I mentioned, I've worked on my tatting a little bit. I'm really not going much of anywhere, but I seem to have the basic stitch down pat. Except I don't do it exactly the way the instructions say, but then again, all of the instruction sites are different, so I think it's okay. Stitch turns out the same either way, so I think that's all I can ask for. But.. it certainly doesn't look anything like the stuff we saw on Saturday! :) M assures me that I don't have to be terrific at it on the first attempt. He's so cute. He's been so reassuring and encouraging about the whole project. Maybe he feels guilty about all his mandolin practice. ;)
I sent the inlaws a rather long email in Swedish (for the first time) two Sundays ago, and was beginning to feel a little ... cross/hurt about the fact that I hadn't gotten a reply except a notice that it was received. Magnus talked to his dad on Sunday. Turns out that he'd replied to M's hotmail acct.. there was this issue last week with M's email program not sending mail, so he sent them a mail from that account, which apparently had been taken to mean that we were having email problems, or.. something. Anyway, the point is that there WAS a reply, which M forwarded to me. :) It was so cute cause M's dad had written in English as a thankyou for me writing in Swedish. :) *beam*
Our second anniversary is coming up soon. I cannot believe we've been married that long, and also I cannot believe there was ever a time when we weren't. It's on a Monday this year, though. :( Sorta cuts down on fun activities.. or at least, we can't go to Gatlinburg like we did for the honeymoon and first anniversary. Need to think of something to celebrate.
I finished this this weekend:
