We decided against a rainy flea market to spend the day at home together watching movies. This turned out to be a very pleasant way to spend the day. :) We were pleasantly surprised that Harry Potter turned out to be rather good, we thought Monsters Inc was extraordinarily cute, and thought Queen of the Damned to be the worst movie we've seen since Nell. Actually, I don't think Magnus has even seen Nell, but I did and hated it with a freakish passion.

I suppose that if we hadn't actually read the book in question, it might have been.. no, even then it would have been horrible. The makeup looked to be purchased from Wal-Mart at an after-Halloween sale three years ago, the special effects were laughable, the dialogue embarrassing, and the ever-present vampire gore completely unnecessary and wildly out of character. You add that to several major storyline changes as well as the thousand minor wrong details that one might otherwise be able to excuse and you have one stupid movie. On the other hand, we both rather expected it to be this way. The book was extremely good but pretty complex to try to turn into a movie. One could wish they'd put a little more effort into it, though. :(

Dum de dum. Haven't written in a few days, have I? Nothing much has been going on and I've been somewhat lethargic. Magnus claims it's the weather changing, but he blames everything, including cheese, on the weather. I was inspired by Magnus's painting and created one of my own in oil pastels, but I'm not sure it's finished. I've been occupied by tatting related things. I've spent more time reading about it online and looking at pictures than doing it, but I think I've moved forward on my own rapidly enough to warrant slowing down and letting ideas settle. Guess I haven't actually shown anything past my first little circle with loops. I'm thinking on a site for crafty stuff, but haven't decided how I wanna do it. And besides, the scanner doesn't seem to be working. I wonder if it's a Win2000 issue or a scanner issue. I downloaded drivers for 2000, but it still didn't work. I'm considering trying on another computer, but I would have a lot of hassle and reinstallations of things before I could do so. Maybe that'll be a project for next week.. but I doubt it. I'd rather just talk about it, I think.. particularly when the machine in question is stuck in a corner with cords running every which way and the Mac sitting snugly beside it on one side and a filing cabinet on another. Eh. Anyway.

You know, I was thinking about said tatting projects tonight. Isn't it funny how quickly your life can be altered? Three weeks ago tonight I was researching a little bit on what tatting actually is, since I'd always said I wanted to learn but hadn't the faintest idea of what it entailed and now I spend quite a bit of time working on it. And that's the smallest bit of it all. For instance.. after Magnus moved here and started hearing bluegrass music, he started casually talking about how neat mandolins are. Now it's a very large part of his personality and occupies a great deal of his (and my!) time. And then there are the muds. I was really obsessive about them for quite a long while. I spent free time dreaming up themes and help files and talking to people. And now I rarely log on to any mud besides DarkScapes and I only idle there. Two years ago, my husband was not my husband and indeed was not living on the same continent. How many people are we destined to be during our lifetimes? And isn't there any way to guarantee we progress forward?

In conclusion, my husband has now assured me that he has absolutely never frequented a hooker who accepted PayPal. I can really sleep easier at night now.
