Wednesday night
Oct. 23rd, 2002 11:38 pmOur homepage is the ninth listing at Google (and Yahoo uses the Google engine..) when you search for "pumpkin carving pictures" apparently. I think this is the funniest thing I've heard all week.
Our webhost provides somewhat decent stats, but not referrals. This was annoying, as where your hits are coming from are the most interesting bit. I had signed up for a free stats thingie from free-stats.com, which wasn't so much better and also had horrible service that was getting worse by the day. I ripped the code for that off a couple days ago and was idly thinking about replacing it with something. I'm not (or I wasn't.. hehe) a compulsive stat checker, but I like to check it out every little bit. Anyway. I installed a (free!) script and updated all of the pages on both sites with a line of code and had it all working in a couple of hours. (Took the most time to update all the silly pages.)
Anyway. Two hours later, I checked the stats when showing Magnus what I'd been doing while he was gone... and there were 27 hits. We used to get a few here and there, but since we've moved the site three times in the past two years to its present location, we typically only get one or two a day. I'd noticed over the last couple of days that it was a little higher, but still, 27 in two hours was pretty unusual.. I was sure that the script was broken or something. Turns out that everyone is carving their Halloween pumpkins and looking for inspiration! See the now famous pumpkins here.
(Also, users have searched for pictures from the 1620s--the Vasa museum in Stockholm, building a porch--we built a porch, lemonade pictures--we did concessions at Poppy Mt last year, cute nose pictures--Cookie Nose Tower in Stockholm, and Christmas tree sale place pictures. It's all so funny!)
Also, I've started a new blog, this time hosted on our site using Moveable Type (which I'm crazy about.. as long as it keeps working.) It's designed for my tatting stuff.. I'm hoping that a year from now I'll enjoy looking back and seeing the progress I've made. Anyway, the link is http://www.geijer.k-image.com/kisha/tatting/. Maybe I'll stop writing about it here now, right? :)
Tomorrow is my dad's birthday, and my mother and I have not yet made any plans whatsoever for the surprise birthday party that he keeps hinting that he wants.. laugh. I guess it will involve dinner being cooked, possibly for somehwhat large quantities of people. But we did go to WalMart and finish getting his present tonight, that was productive. And speaking of productive, I actually wrapped Christmas presents today! I needed a box for two small things, but everything else I have is done. Cool, eh? :) Also pathetic, I suppose.
I'm so sleepy and it's not even midnight yet. :) Still, think I'm going to head to bed soon, so nightienight!
