Cute sock pictures.
Jan. 9th, 2008 04:21 pmMy husband is really smart (and hot, too, but that has nothing to do with this paragraph.) He used a tea candle to lubricate the sliding rails on E's crib. It was clunky and loud and creaky before, and now it slides like a hot knife through butter. I did not even realize how awful it was before until it was fixed. It was waking her up when I put her down for naps. It's wonderful! I was so impressed! This might be something that you all already knew but when he started looking for a candle, I was thinking he was on crack and also, that wax would just gunk it up even worse, but he took care of it and I am so much happier. Yay!
Speaking of M, he has been eating really well for the past week or two because I have cooked a great deal of stuff that he has really enjoyed. Pork chops! BBQ cups! Nasi goreng! Blueberry boy bait! (cobbler-esque) Bacon cheeseburgers! I have run through my planned list now, though, and I am feeling the pressure. If I make potato soup for dinner then he will be so disappointed! ;) Actually, if I were to make potato soup for dinner, he would probably eat something else because he thinks plain old potato soup is kind of... well, plain. Ahh, the trials and tribulations of a housewife! What if my husband is disappointed by dinner! The horrors! I have it pretty good, though, because he pretty much likes everything. People love to cook for M because he will totally eat it and like it and rave about it and if he doesn't really like it, he will still be pretty cool about it.
My bank forces you to keep $5 in the savings account. I transfer everything into checking right away because our real savings account is at a different bank with a real interest rate. So that is why, in the last quarter, I made TWO CENTS in interest at that bank! I am totally going to go on a wild spending spree right now! Free money, woot! ;) (Several hundred at ING. I love ING. I looked at our mess of a budget spreadsheet and found that unfortunately, we had apparently budgeted for making $7000 in interest last year. Ummm. Methinks that yet another set of numbers went horribly horribly wrong somewhere.. haha. I wish I had enough money in the bank so that it would be reasonable to expect that much in interest! We really need to fix the math in that stupid spreadsheet--it's just pulling the analyzing numbers from the wrong place.)
I have been crossing things off my to-do list today, and in the process, I have written TWO letters. By hand! With like, a pen and paper! I also have a package to
carrieb ready to send, finally. Erik left a Wiggles music toy thing (is it supposed to be a fake mp3 player?) here, and I found it in my couch weeks after they left. I searched for a suitable box for a couple of weeks and then finally wrapped it up and promptly forgot about it. Oops. M will take it with him tomorrow--he works next to a post office so I don't even have to bother with that part myself. See how lazy I am? All I had to do was put it in a box and write an address on it and I STILL didn't get it done until now! Hopefully it has been long enough that he will think it's a brand new toy by now? (Always look on the bright side!) Anyway, it has been a really long time since I wrote a real letter. It felt weird. I used to write letters all the time because we moved around a lot when I was a kid and I had best friends from each location to keep up with. One of the letters I wrote today was to S, who was my best friend and next-door neighbor in Augusta, Georgia, for fourth and fifth grades. I have not seen her since then. I love it that we still have (basic, limited) contact. It's cool. She is better at sending correspondence than anyone else I know, or it would never have worked. ;)
I hope this post makes sense to you because it kind of doesn't seem to make sense to me. Maybe it's just one of those days.
I have been saving these pictures to post until
sandykins57 got back from vacation so she wouldn't miss it. She knitted Evelyn a really cool pair of socks when she was born. For all her giganticness, Evelyn had pretty small feet so I was finally able to put them on her last month. They're so cute! I thought Sandy might like to see her handiwork. :)
